About the Leadership keynote
A musical perspective on leadership
As a Leadership Speaker, I use music to make you listen differently, tune in more sharply, and improvise with more courage. This keynote has it all: live music, interaction, recognition, and positive energy. Together we seek answers to questions such as:
- How do you get people on board with change?
- How do you maintain balance between giving direction and allowing space?
- And what do you do if the tempo suddenly changes?

Playing together
As a leader, you have to deal with different characters, egos, and voices. How do you turn that cacophony into a coherent whole? How do you set the tone, strike the right chord, guard the dynamics, and keep people happily playing together? In other words, how do you deal with change?
Change
Change is like a new melody: exciting, unexpected, sometimes even painful. How do you deal with the unknown? How do you get people on board? In this keynote, as a musical leadership speaker, I show how insights from music help to take people along in movement, transition, and innovation. We explore how insights from music are surprisingly easily translated into the business world. “It’s the tone that makes the music”.
Comfort zone
Music can get people moving very quickly. I’d rather let you experience how that works than explain it. During the keynote, we step out of the comfort zone: we sing, polyphonically, live accompanied on piano. At first, that feels uncomfortable, but soon something special arises.
You see what happens with every change. Some go along with it immediately, others need some time, and there are always a few who drop out. And that’s okay. It is precisely those differences that make the process powerful. Even resistance has value. Maybe those are the dissonants.
Dissonants
Dissonants are clashing frequencies. In music, and in teams and organizations. Yet they are indispensable. Without dissonants, there is no tension, color, direction, or innovation. As a leadership speaker, I let you hear why they are needed and how to deal with them as a leader.
Emotion

Leadership speaker who lets you hear what leadership is
As a bandleader with artists such as Henk Poort and Danny de Munk and as a musical director with national productions, I always had the idea that my work was completely different from that of friends with ‘normal’ jobs.
Until I discovered: wherever people work together, the same themes play out. Leadership is about listening, tuning in, giving space, and maintaining direction. Just like in music.
As a leadership speaker, I don’t tell you how it should be done. But I do let you look from a different perspective. And listen.
